Frequently Asked Questions

Zenthai Shiatsu

  • "Blood, Ki and nerves form the foundations of our bodies internal pathways. Your local doctor may refer to arterial flow or nerve pathways whilst your alternative health practitioner may refer to it as ‘the river of life that ensures good health and vitality.’ When this is obstructed through emotional or physical trauma, postural imbalances or external invasion of pathogens, the natural healing mechanisms of our body is challenged and the ‘free flowing river’ often stagnates. The result is pain, low energy and a general loss of the feeling of well being. The body is needing support.

Zenthai shiatsu addresses the needs of the individual by drawing on the Traditional Energetic based systems of Zen Shiatsu, Traditional Thai Yoga Massage and the remediation techniques of Osteopathy. By the integration of the prime aspects of the modalities and the creation of a safe, awake and caring healing environment, Zenthai has evolved to be widely recognised as an effective structural and energetic form of therapy. This is movement based therapy with a reputation of being effective dealing with issues of the musculo-skeletal, digestive and nervous systems." - Gwyn Williams, founder of Zenthai Shiatsu

Postpartum Care

  • Specialised care for mothers and families welcoming a new baby into their family. During this tender time of transition, bodywork, nourishing meals & herbal care, rituals and traditional ceremonies are offered using the ancient principles of Ayurvedic medicine to support a new mother replenish and rebuild after birth to be vital for the next 42 years of life.

  • All mothers deserve and need care after birth. That care can come from family members (in traditional cultures this would always be the case when a mother in the community or village would birth), or a hired doula as is more common in our western setting. It can be for mothers at any stage of postpartum, but particularly it is essential to receive during the first 42 days where she is extra vulnerable and in need of replenishment. Postpartum care principles can similarly be provided to anyone experiencing a major life transition such as an early birth, a grief journey, recovery from trauma or illness.

  • Postpartum care is essential for the replenishment and rebuilding of vital life force after pregnancy and birth where a mother becomes naturally depleted. The appropriate care and nourishment will not only support her in regaining her strength after birth, it will prevent postpartum depression and symptoms of disease that may arise in later years of life, support breastmilk production, support the emotional journey of early motherhood, and help the whole family system integrate the birth experience together and move into this new chapter of life with a co-regulated nervous system.

  • As soon as possible. The earlier you are able to start planning for your postpartum, the smoother it will be so you can simply focus on healing and connecting with your baby.

  • It is never too late. Although it may differ slightly, you can receive postpartum care at any time especially if you are struggling and need a reset. Postpartum is forever.
